We got up early and drove over to Rotonda West on the gulf coast, and dropped the boat at Eldred's Marina. We had an amazing full day of fishing, swimming, beach bumming and exploring around Gasparilla, Boca Grande, and Bird Key. We are extremely spoiled, and these kinds of days are why we live here!
passed this old boat leaving the marina
good morning :)
up with the sun to fish
first catch of the day, Z got a mangrove snapper
walking on the sandbars, we found lots of live conchs
we caught a total of 7 bonnethead sharks throughout the day
perfect location to beach the boat and swim in between fishing
Z caught three of these ladyfish throughout the day!
flying fish :) Z was a little disappointed not to be keeping them for dinner, but fun to let them go free too
Shelby dubbed herself the shark queen... seems to be her favorite thing to catch
Alex pretending to eat a bait shrimp
we saw quite a few dolphins, some swam close to the boat fishing along with us
we also saw a manatee swim by, and this lizard crossing the bay (he swam toward us wanting to grab a free ride on the boat when we got close to him)!
Alex caught this Crevalle Jack
we found this pretty sea star on one of the sandbars
most beautiful beach bums
bonnetheads put up a fun fight!
the sharks kept snatching our bait
we know we're spoiled
