We snuck the kids out of school early on Friday,
drove over to the coast,
dropped the boat at Eldred's Marina,
and cruised to Cayo Costa Island to camp for the weekend.
It was a fun adventure, and we learned a few new things ;)
1. This family will not be tent camping this time of year in this state again.
2. All-natural bug spray cannot stand up to sand fleas.
3. A 1-mile hike from the boat dock to your campsite is not as awesome as it sounds.
4. Messed up weather makes for messed up fishing - as in, the fish aren't biting.
5. We had a blast. Adventures together as a family are always totally worth it!
just happy to drink some water, get the tent up, and relax in the shade on the first afternoon
sunrise hike back to our boat
coffee first
where Gunner hid from the water all day
bait girl
fishing cutie
fisher boy
Z pulling in his baby shark - the biggest catch of the day
A trying to lure the dolphin closer with a tiny bait fish
he was doing his own fishing
this fish didn't want to stick around for a picture
S found a live starfish at the beach
if we aren't catching any fish, we'll just jump in the water and scare them all away!
a gorgeous day for beaching the boat and playing in the water
s'mores and popcorn
nice
games before bed
Cayo Costa Island - the end.

That is so funny! In mentally planning for our trip down to FL, I made a note to buy "real" bug spray!
