Fort Fisher Aquarium & Kure Beach

We tend to get antsy on these colder weekends, so this Saturday we decided to drive down to the Fort Fisher aquarium. We have only been to this aquarium once before, and we were all more impressed with it this time around. Maybe because the kids are older, or maybe because we started with the gators :)

 pure gator boy

 crazies
 checking out the enormous grouper
and we loved petting the bamboo sharks

then we took our picnic lunch and explored around Kure Beach
:)
There has been so much erosion that sections of the beach are rocky, which reminds me of the West Coast - but just shells in these "tide pools", we didn't even find one crab!! too cold, I guess.
we love living on the coast!!!!

On the way back to the car we decided to explore under the bush canopy lining the pathway (Lance remembers exploring these as a kid in France)
Once you find an entrance to sneak your way in...
it's awesome how open it is underneath!
Fun times ~ we so love playing and exploring with our big kids!!
